Host: Wesley Simons - Elizabethton, TN
Panel: Tim Phillips - Dean of Instructors at the TCSOP; Bill Haywood - Abingdon, VA

E-Mail Question - First of all thanks for responding my e-mail. I am a little surprised that you have never heard of this particular form of loss of salvation doctrine. I've heard preachers thunder this theology from the pulpit all my church going days by qupoting the words, Jesus said, "If you die in your sins, where I am there you cannot come." If you listen to preachers in our area, I guarantee you will hear this frequently. The Bible verse does not exist and is a made-up verse coming from two different verses, John 8:21 & John 8:24. Preachers that continue to shout this verse over their congregations are expecting the audience to reach a certain conclusion, dying in your sins equals loss of salvation. I know Free-Will Baptist preachers, a denomination known for losing salvation theology, who will tell you they were saved and then left the father's house. For a number of years at the time committing various sins such as drunkedness, fornication, adultery, etc. ad then came back to the father's house. They will tell you they repented when they came back but they did not get saved after being lost when they came back. They will tell you that they have been saved only once and that comning back to the father's house did not involve becoming saved after becoming lost, it only involoved repentance. Their theology coincides with the misquoted Bible verse, dying in your sins will cause you to be lost and will in the strongest of terms argue for this position. Their always warning Christians to make sure they don't die in their sins. What would be your words for preachers who continue to quote thie made-up verse that they use to promote the doctrine that dying in your sins equals loss of your salvation? By the way aside when teh fornicator at Corinth repented, did he become saved after he had become lost? The aforementioned theology would answer no. What say you? Signed ....

E-Mail Question - Brother Wesley, Thank you and also the other gentlemen for your dedication to the Arise To Truth. I'm trying to understand Matthew 24. So my question is in verse 30. It seems to be describing the second coming of our Lord. But it in verse 34 that "none of these things shall come to pass until all these things be fulfilled" and an ending point that deals with the destruction of Jerusalem and then it takes up with verse 35 saying "heaven and earth shall pass away but my word shall never pass away" but then in verse 36 it says "but of that day and hour knoweth no man" talking about the second coming. Can you please help me understand these verses, Thank you;

E-Mail Question - Free-will Baptist Church is the subject of the e-mail. E-Mail Question - I am acquainted personally with people who believe in loss of salvation. But they have concluded that you become lost if you die that way. This implies that while one lives that way they are not lost and it is only in dying that one becomes lost after being saved. If one adoptes this theory then one would allow for a person to live a life of fornication and not become lost. And only if one died in that condition would one then become lost. Do you agree or disagree with this particular loss of salvation theory?
Caller - How many different actions of baptism are in the Bible?
Caller - Read John 4:14, Is this everlasting life connected to the water for salvation?; What is this living water?
Caller - Please read the entire e-mail before you or any one else comments on it.
Rest of e-mail - The question that begs answering by those who holds to such a doctrine is, why was a person not lost while they lived in that condition; why did they not become lost while they lived as a fornicator as opposed to dying a fornicator? It would seem to me that a conclusion should be straight forward while you are practicing the sin of fornication you are a fornicator. Therefore, you as a practicing fornicator are presently in a lost condition and do not have to wait or die that way. I believe those that teach this particular view of loss of salvation, take the words of Jesus in John 8:21, 24 and formulate this doctrine from a phrase, "die in your sins". I've never heard whether you teach that one sin can cause one to become lost. I would be interested in your answer. I know one ...(names a preacher) affirms this in an article ...(and he gives the website where we can go to the article). Thanks for your commentary on this question. Signed.

Discussion - Atheism (For the next four broadcasts);
E-Mail Question - Paul always greets the congregation which he is writing to as "saints", regardless of their spiritual condition. This is what we call the "standing of the one who is in Christ." Have you or do you ever think of you or others as "saints?" We are, regardless of our state which is ever-changing. You know the line in the song, "well sometimes I'm and sometimes I'm down, coming for to carry me home." It has to have religious people scratching their heads when Paul refers to the church at Corinth as sanctified, enriched, confined unto the end that ye may be blameless, etc. It would do preachers and teachers well if we practice what Paul did when dealing with the saints of the church and first remind them of their standing before we expose and seek to correct their state. I would hope that your denomination accepts these two characteristics of the regenerate person as plainly portrayed by scripture. Let us all do things the way they are done in the Bible and give the proper respect to the flock of God.
Caller - Teaching about belonging to the "one" church, if they do not belong to the "church of Christ" they are lost.

Called in Question from last program - What is the gift of the Holoy Spirit in Acts 2:38 and comment on Romans 8:9-11.
Question - Can you talk about Christian passivests? Some arguments for this view are 1), Turning the other cheek - that is not defending yourself with weapons, it is the governments responsibility to protect me-Romans 13. I know the logic of the passifist I know went like this, since myself and my family are saved, and a would be murderer broke into my house and wanted to kill all of us, it would be better for all of us to just give up our lives-be martyers and go on to heaven and give the murderer who is lost a chance later on get saved. It woud seem to me that God who gave life would want us to protect life; the animal kingdom does. Also the passivist I know limited the debate for or against self-defense to the New Testament only; Old Testament off limits. The fifth commandment limiting murder would at the same time, it would seem to me, command preservation of life. It seems odd that a person would limit a discussion of self-defense to the New Testament only. Thanks for commenting on this subject.

E-Mail Questions - Wesley, This is the THIRD, count them, THIRD e-mail referencing the e-mails which are attached. Since you are talking about the Holy Ghost maybe you can squeeze them in now, but I doubt you will. You don't want to discuss the Bible verses which make it perfectly clear that EVERY Saved person since Christ's ascension is permanently indwelt by the Holy Ghost; SEALED by the Holy Ghost UNTIL the day of redemption, Ephesians 1:13-14. Sealed "UNTIL THE DAY OF REDEMPTION" MEANS JUST WHAT IT SAYS; IT DOES NOT MEAN UNTIL GOD DECIDES TO BREAK THE SEAL, OR UNTIL A PERSON DECIDES TO BREAK THE SEAL; IT MEANS "UNTIL THE DAY OF REDEMPTION" JUST LIKE IT SAYS. Your program today (1/24/2012) makes it clear that you are AFRAID to address these verses because they destroy your False Teaching which alleges that Saved people can lose their Salvation. Read these attached e-mails carefully again. Sincerely in Christ,
E-Mail Question - Wesley, The phrase I used in th below e-mail ("UNTIL THE DAY OF REDEMPTION") is obviously a paraphrase of what Ephesians 1:14 is actually saying. Just wanted to make that perfectly clear. Sincerely in Christ,

Answering questions why the broadcast is not being live on internet;
E-Mail Question - Dear Wesley, Just some comments about today's program. 1, God is in control, that we can agree with, but that does not mean that there is not consequences for what America is doing. {IE} "Abortion, Gay marriage, Lazeyness, and shacking up." All of which are allowed today. Don't fool your listeners, or your selvs that God will just over look these sins, because there will be consequences to pay for what America has let happen. That is a specially true in the Church today. You think that it doesn't matter how you live, you even said that on the program today yourselves? That is why your churches are falling apart today. Do you really believe, or even think God is happy with America just relecting a ratical "Proabortionest" as your prisedent? Look back in the "old Testement" Which I know you don't agree with, but look how many times that people sinned what happend? There were consequences for their sins. Something you, and the speakers on this program do not believe in. Why not? Why do you never point out what is going to happen as a result of not repenting? Repentence is apart of being saved, but something you and the speakers on this program do not want to deal with. You never point out the consequence of not repenting why is that? You as preachers are called to preach the Gospel, that means the intire Gospel not just what you agree with. Again you may teach "well you must repent to be saved" but in your own teaching what will happen if you don't repent wesley? Nothing. That's right not a thing. No consequences for your sin. Why do you not teach the consequence for your sin. Why, did you your selvs vote for the "Proabortionest"? Is he paying you not to condemn the nations "proabortionest view, his gay marriage, and lazeyness? Are you and the speakers on this program in his back pocket? In your own teaching there is no consequences for your sins, leading one to say then why should you repent at all. After all their is know consequence for not repenting. That is your own ungodly teaching! Why do you refuse to teach the consequences of not repenting or even the consequences of your sins? Do you not believe in consequences of sin, or do you just not care Wesley? Have you never read proverbs 9 nations will be turned in to hell because they forget God, or do you even care? Why not tell the truth? Sin has consequences, but that is something you, and the speakers on this program denie. So I ask this question Why do you not care about the 15,000,000 babys that are killed every day all in the name of a "woman's right"? I think all those babys that will be killed because your in your nation's leaders back pocket they deserve an answer. Of course there will be know answer. Missionary to South Asia, ...., State side! FL. USA. Please respond! Not that you will!

E-Mail Discussion: I have a bunch of questions I would like for you to deal with please. First I'm not a Christian, but I really don't want to be, as the result of most of the things I see in the church. After all I've seen, which I've written it below, then you should see why I don't want to be a Christian. Why should I want to be a Christian, when all Christians today are Mansie pansie, and whishie whoshie on everything from abortion, to whether there's 1 in the Godhead, or 3 in the Godhead. From whether you should just overlook sin in/order to make peace, to 1 church is as good as another. From whether you should take the Lord's supper once a week, or once a year, or not even at all, to what kind of music does God accept in worship. From you can just live anyway you want to live, to whether you must be baptized in/order to be saved. Most churches just want to make peace at any cost, even at the sacrificing of truth. It's not what does the Bible say, rather its all about just living at peace with one another, putting aside truth, and throwing the Bible out the window. Peace is more important then the truth any day. Why should I want to be a Christian? When Christians will not stand for anything, but will fall for everything coming, and going. If one condemns sin in another's life, that one is looked down on as being "unkind", "unloving", "a trouble maker", "ungentle" ", "hardheaded", and "mean spirited." These people say if you condemn sin such as, abortion, homosexuality, drunkardness, and so/on, and so/forth. your being "unkind", "A trouble maker", "ungentle", and "jealous". These same people say when you condemn such sin then it shows that you have not got the fruits of the spirit, for if you did you wouldn't condemn sin at all, you would leave the condemning of sin up to God, and you would just love them, and make peace with them at any cost, they say just mind your own business, instead of trying to correct other people, for it's nun of your biasness how someone else lives. At the same time the ones saying this throw up Matthew 7 verse 1. However, are they them selves not guilty of doing the same thing, as their accusing us of doing? Some how these people think that it's okay to judge us, but we can not do that to them. If you try to correct one who is wrong then they blowup at you. Now friend I ask you, is that being very loving, kind, gentle, or accepting of another's belief system? I don't think so! When you stand up for what you believe in, you will be looked at as being "unChristian", when the opposite is really true. So after all of this, Why should I want to be a Christian? After all you can't even agree on the plan of salvation, now can you! Of course not! Can you deal with this please?! Should I be saved, and if so how, or do you even know how to be saved to begin with? Will you read this whole e/mail on the air, so other churches can see the damage their doing to there selves, and the Gospel's sake? Although its a long e/mail I think it needs to be dealt with; Caller - Is God a respecter of person in light of the thief on the cross; Caller - Comments on the respecter of person and the thief on the cross; Caller - What about people in foreign countries that never hear the gospel how does God judge them?; Caller - When Jesus' side was pierced and blood and water came forth was that a form of baptism? Continuing the e-mail question on Mark 16:16 - Assuming that Mark 16 is original to Mark does it teach that baptism is required for salvation? The short answer is no. It does not. In order to make it teach that baptism is required for salvation, one must go beyond what the verse actually says. What this verse does teach is that belief is necessary for baptism whch is consistant with the countless verses where only belief is mentioned. For instance: John 3:18; John 5:24; John 12:44; John 20:31; 1 John 5:13; He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned, Mark 16:16. This verse is composed of two basic statements; he who believes and is baptized shall be saved, he who does not believe shall be damned. While this verse tells us something about believers who have been baptized, they are saved. It does not say anything about the believers who have not been baptized. In order for this verse to teach that baptism is necessary for salvation, a third statement would be necessary. Such as, he who believes and is not baptized will be condemned, or he who is not baptized will be condemned. But of course, neither of these statements is found in this verse.Caller - Read one scripture in 1 John 5:8 and tell the importance of water baptism.
Caller - Would you cover these scriptures: Acts 2:38-39.
Caller - It was water baptism that put my soul into the body of Christ and why did Jesus have John the Baptist baptize him in water?
Back to e-mail question - Those who try to use Mark 16;16 to teach that baptism is necessary for salvation commit a common but serious mistake that is sometimes called the negative infrence fallicy. This is the rule to follow; If the statement is true then we cannot assume that all negative statements are opposites of that statement are also true, i.e., the statement a dog with brown spots is an anumal is true. However, the negative, if a dog does not have brown spots it is not an animal is false. In the same way, he who believes and is baptized will be saved is true. However, the negative, he who believes but is not baptized will not be saved is an unwarranted assumption. Yet this is exactly the assumption made by those who support baptismal regeration.
Caller - Do you believe that the apostles were baptized by John the Baptist, and if they were, did they have to get re-baptized after that again or not?
Caller - Where is it in the Bibke that says not to touch the anointed or the prophet?
Caller - If a person repents and doesn't get to the water is he saved?

Continuing e-mail question of the July 24th program - Regarding Mark 16:16, it is important to remember that there are some textual problems with Mark chapter 16 verses 9 through 20. There are questions as to whether these verses were orginally a part of Mark or they were added later by a scribe. As a result, it is best not to base a key doctrine on anything from Mark 16:9-20 such as snake handling unless it is supported by other passages of scripture.
Caller - Where is the Biblical common sense that says that something is or is not illegal, or my opinion or your opinion?
Caller - Do you believe that Billy Graham and other preachers who do not preach what you do are false prophets and going to hell?
Caller - I have been listening for a long time, and I have a question about sin; seems like there are three classes of sins, would you comment on these?
Caller - What if you were saved and then got in the shape that were not able to pray or repent, are you saved?
Caller - Commenting on answers to questions called in.
Continuing e-mail question - Assuming that Mark 16 is original to Mark does it teach that baptism is required for salvation? The short answer is no. It does not. In order to make it teach that baptism is required for salvation, one must go beyond what the verse actually says. This verse is composed of two basic statements; he who believes and is baptized shall be saved, he who does not believe shall be damned.
Caller - That verse you are using baptism as a part of salvation, then the last part of the verse says believes and is not baptized shall be condemned, so if baptism is a necessary part of salvation, why would they leave it out?
Caller - Commenting on John 12:42.
Caller Referring to Romans 12:1.

E-Mail Question - Sirs, I'm not at all impressed that you are able to effectively refute every caller and e-mailer of the opposing view. Mr. Simons has a degree in apologetics and Mr. Phillips having an extensive research in Biblical studies. The fact is, all over the world right now Freewill Baptist, Missionary Baptist, Catholic, etc., are doing the very same thing you are. Effectively refuting every caller and e-mailer of the opposing view. A radio station wold be foolish to not be prepared with staff on hand to do so. You maybe able to effectively refute the opposing view till Jesus comes, but you will never be able to refute what a Christian knows in their heart; that they are born spiritually and their final destination is with God for eternity.
Caller - Timothy was told by Paul that doctines of demons or devils is wrong, and we are not to add or take away from God's Word.

Host: Wesley Simons - Elizabethton, TN

E-Mail Questions - Talking about a yearbook listing of denominations which includes the Church of Christ and they ask to please not use atonomous arguments. During the exil the Jews had established four commemorative fasts for the people to observe before their God. These were: The fast of the fourth month, the fifth month, the seventh month, and the tenth month. It should be noted that these four religious fasts were seemingly not commanded by God. STOP!! I never said anything about it. Would God not condemn such as false worship and demand that these fasts be abolished altogether as sinful and unwanted and unwarranted?
E-Mail Question - Does Mark 16:16 teach that baptism is necessary for salvation as with one single verse or passage? We discern that what it teaches through careful consideration of language and context of the verse. We also filter it through what the Bible teaches elsewhere on the subject. In the case of baptism and salvation, the Bible is clear that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by works of any kind including baptism, Ephesians 2:8-9. Regarding Mark 16:16, it is important to remember that there are some textual problems with Mark chapter 16 verses 9 through 20. There are questions as to whether these verses were orginally a part of Mark or they were added later by a scribe. As a result, it is best not to base a key doctrine on anything from Mark 16:9-20 such as snake handling unless it is supported by other passages of scripture.
