E-Mail Question(s) - Arise to Truth, Can you please deal with the following two Old Testament Scriptures? I know that the sum of God’s Word is true, but I am having trouble seeing how these two scriptures are compatible/complimentary. 1 Kings 15: 5 states that David did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and did not turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of this life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite. However, 2 Samuel 24 and 1 Chronicles 21 accounts David ordering the numbering of the people of Israel and Judah. In these two accounts, David says “I have sinned greatly in what I have done. But now, O Lord, please take away the iniquity of your servant, for I have done very foolishly.” This does not seem that David did what was right in the eyes of the Lord except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite as 1 Kings 15:5 states. Thank you for your help in understanding this matter!

E-Mail Question - From what I have read of Heaven it will be a wonderful place. Every one who goes there will be as little children under the care of God. It will be as an eternal worship service. All of God's family will be there and there will be no marriage as God will be the head of the family. During my life I have seem people who seem to get a thrill by wronging people and proudly demonstrating what they have done that is wrong in front of the people they have wronged. These people claim that they will go to heaven when they die. To them repenting means to forget about wrongs that they have done and ignore people that they have wronged. If a person truly repents they will right their wrongs so that no one can be angry with them. The Apostle Paul spent the rest of his entire life repenting of the wrongs that he committed against Christians. Today people think that repenting means to come to the front of the auditorium during a worship service and say "I'm sorry" and that is it. If Heaven will be full of such people, I'm not sure that I want to go there for an eternity. As an example, it would be wonderful to spend an eternity with God and the souls of the Apostle Paul, or King David as they have made all things right. Today in the Lord's Church no one is required to repent to have fellowship with the congregation and I don't understand it. The Bible tells us to mark and avoid such people so that they will be ashamed and make things right. One of the most interesting excuses is "Well I have tried and I just can't make things right". Imagine if the Apostle Paul used this excuse. As I said before Paul spent the remainder of his life repenting. If you cause wrong to other people, you need to make things right even if it takes your entire life. Only people who repent of all wrong are innocent.

E-Mail Question - Let me start off by saying that not allowing the email one sends to the program to be read in it's entirety is akin to interrupting the opposition in a formal debate during their opening statement. The audience deserves to hear all the emailer has to say before any opposing views are presented. Will the program contributers agree to this statement, and abide by it? If not, then there would be no further need to speak through this means, since the emailer has been interrupted before the audience gets to hear their entire train of thought and argument. If you cannot, or will not, abide by this, then please disregard the rest of this email. It seems to be the conclusion of the group you associate yourself with (church of Christ) that worship of the Lord is confined to congregational, and also confined to only on the Lord's Day. This would mean that a Christian, while listening to a Christian song in their car, and singing along with a worshipful heart, would be sinning, and actually endangering their soul to hell. A christian, or group of Christians, gathered at any location and setting other than a congregation, while singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, such as at a sunrise service, funeral service, at home, at a school, or gathered at any other day of the week except the Lord's Day, such as at a gathering on Wednesday night, would be sinning, and endangering their soul to hell. It is my contention that congregational only worship cannot be found in Ephesians 5. If one reads the entire chapter, it is addressed to the Body of Believers as a whole, but applies individually to each member, regardless of number or location. The terms "among you", "ye", "yourselves", and "your" apply to the group as a whole, or to individuals. Husbands are told to love YOUR wives in Ephesians 5. This is not limited by number or location. All the other directives in Ephesians 5 that use the above mentioned terms do not, in any way, limit the directive to a number or location. Neither does verse 19, when It says "to yourselves". It is my conclusion, as well as many others, that the term "yourselves" here, as well as in the rest of the Chapter, is not limited in location and number, and can, in fact, apply to any individual within that group, regardless of number or location. It is my contention that your group has taken the liberty to apply a limit to one Verse of Scripture in Ephesians 5 that the writer did not apply anywhere else throughout the Chapter, and is, in fact, taking this verse out of context in order to teach a certain doctrine that limits worship in number and location. It is my contention that any Christian , regardless of number or location, has been given the liberty of worshiping the Lord from the heart at any time, and at any location.

E-Mail Question - Sent from my iPhone. Losing salvation apologists, when going to Ezekiel 18 to formulate this doctrine, always, without exception, skip over a majority of the chapter, usually starting around verse (correction MMJ) 20. I make the charge that if a New Testament member goes to Ezekiel 18 to formulate loss of salvation theology for the New Testament church, that that member is taking the New Testament church back under the Mosaic law. Here is why I make the charge; when we read all of Ezekiel 18, it becomes clear that what causes a person in Ezekiel 18 to die in a righteous or unrighteous condition, is whether or not that person does, or does not do, the things that are listed in Ezekiel 18. I counted at least 14 items. Will the speakers on this program agree that what causes one to die in a righteous or unrighteous state in Ezekiel 18, is whether or not they do the things listed in Ezekiel 18, And will you also agree that doing, or not doing, these things, is not binding on the New Testament church?

E-Mail Question (Continued from last program) - Arise to Truth, I am a member of the Church of Christ and a student of the Bible. I want to thank you for your radio program. Nowhere else have I been able to find such in depth, solid, biblical teaching. I have been binge-listening to your archived programs online and have learned a tremendous amount. Thank you! With that said, I have lots of topics that I would like to hear you discuss or questions I would love for you to answer. Can you please talk about the Biblical qualifications for an elder? I have done much study on the subject and have come up with more questions than answers. Can you please specifically address the following: Does the "their wives" apply to both elders and deacons? Meaning that they both have to be currently married to be qualified to be serve. Does this mean that if an elder's or deacon's wife dies he is no longer able to serve in that position? What does "man of one wife" mean? If a man is married and his wife dies or he is scripturally divorced and remarries scripturally, is he still eligible to serve as an elder? What does believing children mean? Does it mean faithful Christian? How many is children? At least one or more than one? Does children mean only when their kids are under parents authority (i.e. still a child)? What if an elder has three children and only two of them believe? What if a couple adopts but does not have biological children; would this man be able to serve as an elder? Once again, thank you for your program. Best Regards, Midwest Listener

E-Mail Question - Maybe I was not clear enough in the last e-mail dealing with this. My apologies. I'll try to be more precise this time. On a recent program, a representative from this program, when defining the meaning of the word "thousand" in Revelation 20, immediately went to Psalm 50:10, and implied that the word "thousand" in Revelation 20 could mean 1001,or "more than a thousand", based on Psalm 50:10. This is the very same thing Gary Demar does when He comes to Revelation 20, and the word "thousand". As a matter of fact, every Amillenialist I have ever heard attempt to define the word thousand in Revelation 20 does exactly the same thing; get their definition from Psalm 50:10. When we immediaetly go to an Old Testament passage, and grab a definition of a word, and then bring it back to the New Testament, and superimpose that definition that we found in the Old Testament onto a word in the New Testament, instead of allowing the actual word to define itself in the context it appears in, we have committed the error of eisogesis. We later heard another representative of this program actually allow the word to stand on it's own, and retain the definition the word has in the original Greek, that word being "Chilioi", having one meaning, and one meaning only; "a thousand", meaning a literal, mathematical number, that is neither leass than 1000, nor more than 1000.
Caller - Commenting on the email.
Caller - Saying the word 1000 in Revelation is not literal.
Back to email. - At this point, I see two definitions being given for "thousand" in Revelation 20 by two different representatives from this program; one that comes from Psalm 50:10, and one that comes from the Greek word "Chilioi". Both cannot define the same word. I argue that the original Greek definition should stand, and the Psalm 50:10 imposed definition be abandoned. I would hope that the speakers on this program, and anyone listening, would agree. When the Holy Ghost gave words, those words have meanings. Once those words have been defined by the Holy Ghost, we do not have the luxury of later creating our own interpretation of what the word means. When we get our definition for the word "thousand" in Revelation 20 from Psalm 50:10, and conclude that it can mean 1001, then that's exactly what we have done. My argument remains the same; if the Holy Ghost wanted the word "thousand" in Revelation 20 to mean "1001", then He did not have to go all the way back to Psalm 50 to get it; He had already given it to John twice before in Revelation 5:11; that word being "Murias". I would kindly appeal to the one using the previous email in a debate class to also use this follow up email as well.

DISCUSSION - Premillennialism (Part 2).
E-Mail Question - It's truly amazing to hear two different Amillenialist apologists, Gary Demar from the Roman Catholic church, and Wesley Simons from the church of Christ, both use a definition of a word from the Old Testament to define a word from the New Testament, that word being "thousand" in Revelation 20. Both, at this point, have committed the error of eisogesis, when they do not allow the word, by itself, and in the context, to speak for itself, but instead impose another, different meaning, onto the Word. The Greek word for "thousand" in Revelation 20 is "Chilioi", and has only one meaning, that meaning being "thousand", which means this is a literal, mathematical number, such as 100x10 or 999+1. As a matter of fact, for the first few hundred years of Church history, Christians were known as "Chiliasts". They correctly interpreted this word in Revelation 20, and expected a literal 1000 year time period for the events spoken of in Revelation 20. Here's a great question; was there a Greek word the Holy Ghost could have given John that would give Wesley and Gary the definition they need in Revelation 20 for "1000"? Yes, there was, and, as a matter of fact, the Holy Ghost directed John to write this word down earlier in the Book. The word is "Murias", and is found twice in Revelation 5:11. The word "Murias" is defined as "an innumerable multitude, an unlimited number". It sounds like this word should have been given to John in Revelation 20 to support the doctrine of Amillenialism, taught by both Roman Catholics and church of Christ. The Holy Ghost gave no such word, therefore the necessary eisogesis on both Wesley and Gary's part. If we have to get it right, ladies and gentlemen, then we have to allow actual words; words given by the Holy Ghost, to speak. When we allow this in Revelation 20, we do not come to the same conclusion as Wesley and Gary.
Caller - Are these verses are to be taken literal: Isaiah 11:6; 65:25? When God used the word thousand is as one day.
Caller - Since there is not going to be a thousand year reign, what about the Devil being loosed?
Caller - According to the Bible, we know when Christ is going to come - that is unexpected.
Caller - If this has happened in Revelation 20, why has this 1,000 years happened since it has been 2,000 years since this happened?
Caller - Who say that a thousand years as one day? John wrote Revelation and Peter talked about a day being as a thousand years.
Caller - When Stephen was stoned, was not the kingdom in existence at that time?
Caller - Explain Matthew 28:18 and His authority.
Caller - John confessing that he was in the kingdom.

E-Mail Question - Can you read John 13:4-16, and tell us the reason Jesus gave for washing the disciples' feet? If I'm not mistaken, I've heard someone on this program say it was for hygiene purposes. The context teaches otherwise; it was to symbolize humility. Why does the Organization you associate yourself with not follow this command from the Lord, and continue this act of humility toward your fellow brother/sister n the present Church age? We know that this continued in the New Testament church, according to 1 Timothy 5:10. Is it your conclusion that any Child of God continuing this act of humility in regards to Jesus' words, "Ye ought also to wash one another's feet" has ceased being a child of God?
Caller - Commenting on footwashing. We all have our own faith.
Caller - Caller listens to Charles Stanley and asking about backsliding.
E-Mail Question - I have a question, and a follow up questions based on trhe answer to the first. Do individuals in your congregation practice James 5:14-15 (please read the Scripture)? If they do not, then why not? If the answer is "no", then my follow up question is this: If a child of God practices this Scripture, does He/She cease being a child of God? If the answer is "yes", then please disregard the last question
Caller - Contrary what you think, "once saved always saved" is in the Bible.
